Hi All, Anyone found a good and quick source for the brake lines? Porsche actually are not that expensive, but thought worth putting a shout out. Thanks! Regards Paul |

Paul, I've always made them TBH as I find the pre made ones a pain always too long or argggh too short! Automec kits aren't bad & very ooften a good price, also Kunifer based so easier to bend than steel. Also have brass unions so no corrosion. |

Thanks Jim, I think I will take your advice and let them make them up then. Perhaps buy the front ones though depending on their thoughts as they are telling me its a right pain to make up the front ones and thread through. Out of interest are the Automec ones made up already? I can't work it out from their main site. Not had the car for a month now .... suffering withdrawls! Thanks Regards Paul |

Thanks Regards Paul Yup Automec are pre made. A word to the wise, wrap some tape around the ends before trying to install them. Otherwise you'll fill 'em up with all manner of crap & a bit of grit pumped into a brake seal knackers it double quick! TBH If you buy a tool, unions & a reel of pipe, then make them up you'll be able to make them up in future. Especially on a sunday when the shops are closed! |

Quote: PS: Lee944 - made some brake lines as well, using the Screwfix tool. No problems, but you need to be sure to make sure the die is square on the pipe before you make the flare. I think there are better tools available (See review in Car Mechanic magazine, March issue) but it's done the job. I used Kunifer pipe which bent quite easily and didn't need a bending tool. Good luck! Forgot to say, if you get the old one off first, you can make up the new one and bend it side by side to match. Makes it a wee bit easier. Great tip by Jim, TAPE THE ENDS. Lee. |

Thanks Guys! Big help. I have the car in at a brake specialist so they could make them up, but I will look into the automec pre made ones as the garage don't seem that keen on making them from scratch for the front. OrI might buy the Porsche front ones and get them to make up the rears. Issue is they need to come from Germany and I have already been without the car for a month. Thanks again, Regards Paul |
