Hi All,

Does anyone know if the front hub needs to come off to fit a new front brake cover plate?
Will check it out in the WSM later, but I know you guys will probably know off the top of your heads!
Thanks
Regards
Paul

I'm fairly certain I had to remove hubs when I replaced front dust shields, but it was a few years ago so not 100% sure. You don't have to at rear and I also recall that differed from front so that makes me more confident hubs have to come off.

A lot of people leave them off as very prone to corrosion in our climate. Good idea to wax them before fitting for protection as the corrosion builds up behind hub and hinders free rotation.

Funnily enough it is!

Remove dust cover for front bearing, loosen the clamp with Allen key and take out clamp and thrust washer. The hub will then just slide off the spindle.

Excellent news! I will get some then... Is there anything else I can replace in that area while I am at it?
With the car stuck in the garage waiting parts I am replacing anything else I can think of :-)
