Hi All, I had some to do's today: Unbolt the front spoiler Remove the rest of the side strips Take a look at the slow moving window wipers Remove some window trim and then strip paint and prime it for painting I thought I would be done by lunchtime. You would have though I would have learnt by now! The side strips were no problem although have left the door ones for now. I Had a look at the window motor and found when it is on it physically moves along with the mounting it sits on. I cant believe this is normal? Perhaps someone can comment? I gave everything a good soaking with WD40 and greased up the mechanisms. It improved ever so slightly .... so no quick fix and it still has a serious problem. Not having a new motor I thought I would move on to the front spoiler. Optimistically I got my socket set out .... The first bolt eventually snapped, so that was one way of doing it! The second just didnt want to know ... so I moved on to the others. Eventually I got just one on the whole front to undo. I ended up taking to the dremel to cut the thing off in little pieces. Nearly two hours later the spoiler left the front of the car. Then on to the window trim. I thought I would remove some of the black trim around the drivers door and strip it with a wire brucs attachment I had bought for my drill. Plan was then to prime and paint it ready to re fit once the respray had been done. Trim came off ok, a little tricky, but problem with the wire brush thingy .... it wont strip the paint off! Does anyone have any recommendations for a tool that easily strips car paint off? Maybe a chemical? Trim is aluminium. So not a hugely successful day, but another step closer to her being finished. At least the spoiler is off. Once I have tracked down the the last couple of side strips I need I shall book her in for the respray. Out of interest does anyone know if the rear spoiler can be removed without letting water in should it rain? I will remove it now if I know it will be ok as it will be one less thing to do. Thanks Regards Paul |

Hi Paul ![]() For what its worth, I use Nitromors (chemical) on ally Nitrous bottles to remove paint... It will easily remove it but make sure the bits are OFF the car lol... Front spoiler.... if you need a pattern for anything, I actually have a brand new one in my garage I picked up which I will fit to mine next time I clout mine on a speed bump (regular occurrence lol) Never done my wiper motor but doubt it should move on its mountings.....can you tighten it ? All the best Brett ![]() |

Thanks Brett, I shall pick up some Nitromors in the week and give it a go. Seems silly to pay for new parts if a recon and spray comes out ok. Much more satisying as well! I already have a replacement front spoiler in the garage, but thanks for the offer. What would be good is a couple of photos of your front end though if that is an easy task? (or anyone else have a nice front end??) I need to see how the spoiler attaches to the front lower middle of the car in the air intake/grill area if that makes sense? I think someone had had a small nudge or hit a road hump and broken the mounts a bit. Nothing serious, but they looked like they had been cobbled together from spare brackets and odd screws/nuts/bolts. Pet is not clear enough to work it out. Re the wondow motor, yes I think I might be able to tighten it, but I think I am going to replace the nuts and bolts and look into a replacement motor. I cant imagine me giving it a bit of a tighten will repair it and I doubt the bolts could take much tightening anyway. They look a bit tired unfortunately. Regards Paul |

Thanks, had a look through that and looks comprehensive. I thought it might be easier to get a new motor, but not decided yet. Not sure how easy it will be to get the parts needed? REgards Paul |

It's nice to see you were able to spend so much time with your True Love on Valentine's Day ![]() As my mechanical aptitude is far less I just jump-started my 928, inflated the slightly soft rear tyre and went for a drive. No idea about the rear spoiler, but won't you have to remove the rear wiper too? |

Hi Brett, Thanks for that, but no rush... I am not going to refit for at least 2/3 weeks I would imagine. I dont have the respray booked yet as I need to track down the last two side strips I need to replace. Regards Paul |
