Were these an option on 928? I have never seen them on one myself. Regards Paul |

Thought I had seen them somewhere! Probably more valuable now having had Kirk's bottom on them! They look comfy? Regards Paul |

Remind me of the buttons on airline seats - if you press one maybe someone comes along with a drink and pack of salted peanuts? Perhaps they are the sports seats fitted to Club Sport models? Not a good colour if you want to hide the dirt... |

stratfordshark wrote: Perhaps they are the sports seats fitted to Club Sport models? I thought the sports seats were lighter because they had fewer motors, hence you wouldn't need so many buttons; they certainly don't look like the normal 928 sports seats, but as I've never seen the original seats in a Club Sport I can't say (although I don't think the Club Sports had full leather seats). Actually I've seen some very similar seats recently - look at the interior pics in this article. |

You're correct and I'm wrong about the seats bmjb. Had forgotten that clubsport seats were cloth trimmed (though prototypes given to factory team drivers had full leather) and of course no motors. I'm baffled. Have now deleted original thread (on French 928 owner group) discussing this car so can't check if seats were discussed (with help of dictionary!). |

I would say they are made by Recaro. Just wondering id they were factory option. Not seen them mentioned in any of the usual books. Interesting! Regards Paul |

Nice one Paul - I asked on Rennlist and they have been identified as C-series Recaros so looks like you're spot on. Very popular with 80s tuners apparently. |

So unlikely factory fitted then I guess? However very well done as they have been trimmed to match the rest of the interior. I'd like one to turn into an office chair, they look comfy! |

Factory fitted - the Rennlist opinion is that they were available on 928s as a very expensive option. Actual name was Recaro Orthopaedic, which sounds less glamorous! Also available option on some of big Mercs at the time. No-one has ever seen them on a car in the States, but Paul Champagne (equivalent of our Southbound Trimmers - the expert on leather upholstery and interiors) chimed in and has a pair (in black) to sell for $1500. 928 owner immediately offered to buy them. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/9 ... seats.html |

Here's a pair fitted to AMG Mercedes Estate, albeit slightly different switch panel design. The Recaro switches would render the factory switch panel non-functional in cars where seat switches were mounted on door panels. |
