Post subject:  928 Side light / Fog light glass removal

Just taken my front fog/side lights out to remove & clean the lens and I cannot seem to part the lens from the plastic housing? There must be a simple way of doing this but mine seem firmly stuck! I am lifting the small clips but the glass lens needs so much force to remove it the glass is breaking & splitting?

Can anyone shine some light on how to remove the glass from the housing?

I plan to put a 12 LED strip in side the glass to link with the side lights so it has the A8 LED side light look. I am also upgrading the standard side light bulbs with LED bulbs to match the LED strip lights. I will post some photo's when its done.....but for now, I am stuck as I cannot separate the glass from the plastic housing.

Think I need some more beer!

I don't think you can remove the glass. I tried to lever the clips on mine and a chip of glass flew off and hit me in the face, causing a cut. What if it had hit me in the eye? Not nice. Looking at it (I'm holding the sidelight assembly as I write this) you could probably unscrew the adjusters and remove the reflectors, although this would mess up the alignment. However if you did them one at a time you could line it up again using the other one as a reference.

This is assuming that the screws holding the back on have not siezed up, and you can get to the reflectors and bulbs?
I ended up buying 2 new ones off ebay, as mine were stone chipped. I bought one at first but it was so much brighter that I ended up buying the other side too. There's a seller on ebay doing them at £140, the Porsche dealer price is £350 plus VAT.
However this is not much use to you if you are planning to dismantle them and fit LED lights.
