Hi All,

When I bought my 928 the auto selector gear knob thingy was detached.
I have fitted another, but the button is solid and doesnt move. Gears can be selected without pressing it.
Is something missing as I notice there are parts other than the knob itself in this advert for a knob on ebay:

I think something is not right!

Thoughts welcomed.
Thanks
Regards
Paul

I was intrigued/baffled by the same extra 'bits' in the ad.

have just checked PET and for my MY 91 illustration 701-01 shows shifter parts which presumably include detent mechanism.

So was there no T-handle in car you bought?

Hi Paul :)

The detent mechanism is ALL IN the T-shifter....

Its a safety mechanism so you should NOT be able to select certain gears WITHOUT pressing the button....

I would get another T-shift or buy a Momo like mine with the shift button on top...

All the best Brett :)

Hi both,

I had the T Shifter in my car, however it came off in my hand (it had been broekn off for some time and just put back on). The button never worked and I can change gear without pressing the button.
I don't want to put an aftermarket one on as I am trying to get the car back to original.
The replacement is complete as far as I know and the same as the broken one. I think I am missing something that sits inside the selector shaft itself and wondering if that is whats in the plastic bag on the advert.

Will see if there is any other feedback and will have a better look at PET and see if I can work it out.

Regards
Paul
