Plan is to change my electric window and rear wiper switches over tomorrow and check out why my windows have stopped working?
Any tips or advice.

How easy it it to get to the connections? The cables are really long.

I am wondering if rain got in through my deteriating weather strip on the drivers side and blew a fuse or something. I have a new one of these as well, so if the raise stays away tomorrow will give that a go as well.

Well, the connections are easy to get at, remove the centre console side pieces (carpet covered) and the connectors are behind there, towards the front of the console. The problem I had on my automatic S4 was removing the switches from the console. There's a metal plate underneath that has to come off in order to release the switches and to do this you need to lift the centre console up a couple of inches, a time consuming job.

It was suggested that I cut off the wires from my old switches and note the positions of the wires, then cut the wires off the new switches and solder the old wires on. This would be OK if you are good with a soldering iron (I am) but as I was removing the console anyway I did not bother with this method.

Things are tight under the console so if I was changing switches I would remove centre console entirely - a little more work initially but ultimately less frustrating, easier to see what you're doing, no need to butcher cables and you won't be contorted into positions only found in the kama sutra!

Some good write-ups online on console removal. Be gentle with H-shaped trim piece around the heater control, and use a grabber or magnet to remove the bolt accessed through right hand side of glovebox (behind rubber blanking grommet) once it's loose.

So THAT'S where the left over screw goes! I'm going into the garage now to refit it.
