Ive not used my car for 7 days..just been out to turn it over..and no ignition..is this normal..got a flicker and some ticking noise? Or is a new batt in order? Ive heard that this can occur on 928's that are not used often! ![]() |

If it has a decent alarm system & radio that needs permanent live(most of them) then it'll flatten quite quick especially if it wasn't fully charged before hand and/or coldish. They really need a float charger if not used every day or so. |

Hi ![]() What year is your 928 exactly ?? The reason I ask is that there are two sizes.... Both are which are HUGE, and normally do not need a trickle charger , they should still start the car after months...unless either the battery is faulty (too old) or the alternator is not properly charging it. All the best Brett ![]() |

Being an ex-pat I leave my 928 for between 4 to 6 weeks at a time. The battery does not like it and often went flat even with a nearly new battery. I know use a solar trickle charger which seems to do the trick. Stephen |

If there's no abnormal drain and battery is ok then it shouldn't flatten like that after only 7 days. But battery maintainers are very useful. I hook mine up whenever I leave her in garage and don't think about when I'll next be driving her. Mine's a CTEK which are nice quality units (bought from Hamilton Classics) but any decent brand/Halfords should be fine. I use croc clips to charge post and convenient ground but you can attach a neater lead to the battery. With clips I don't forget it's attached - a 928 owning mate (come in Decasmo) chipped his spoiler driving off with charger attached! |

sidbounce wrote: Hi its an 1986.. thanks fot the feedback. ![]() Hi ![]() Same year as mine, which makes it a little awkward as its the slightly smaller battery which was ONLY made for the 86 year.... You can tell, remove the battery and look down into the hole...you will see what looks like a corner BASHED in by Porsche lol.....its for the twin pipes of the exhaust to get past the battery carrier. So you will need the slightly smaller battery...which i cannot remember the number of but it is ONLY available for the 86 year....mine is a Bosch. All the best Brett ![]() |

Measured the voltage and only 10.8V present.. have now removed on placed on charge. The battery looks quite new..but a cheapish/not well known make and no "flattened corner" 73a/ph type.. might buy a new one anyway and keep this as a spare. ![]() |

I think mine is a 96 ah.. All the best Brett ![]() |
