If the brakes are "shocking" then there's clearly a major fault. Unless you have air in the system, or the fluid has never been replaced, it won't be that.

Synthetic brake fluid has been around for years, it has several advantages over normal fluid, firstly its not "hygroscopic" which means unlike normal fluid it will not absorb water...secondly it improves or lessens "brake fade" on trackdays etc as it has a higher boiling point.
Personally it improved my pedal slightly (made it firmer)
But you are correct, "shocking" brakes is extremely unusual for a 928 and its not normally the fluid...pads or discs maybe....but it cannot do any harm to change the fluid anyway....
