Thanks for the reply about the heated seats being an optional extra (below). I have an odd main beam fault, just wondering if anybody else has had this, or can offer any advice. The dipped beam is always OK. When you select main beam it works fine, but after 10 minutes of driving it won't select. You operate the column switch and the main beam headlights don't come on....but the lights in the front bumper still come on. The blue light on the dash goes off too. Note I edited and re-used this posting as I don't want the whole 928 area to be full of my posts! It happened on the vintage car forum when I got my last car, and I think it put everybody else off! |

Yes they were options for left (option code 139) and right (340) seats. If you check your build sticker (under hatch carpet, and first page of service book) you'll see all the option codes for your car. |

I traced this fault! It was the headlight relay (large relay bottom right on the fuse board) Tapping it caused the headlights to go on and off. I opened it up and it needed various connections re-soldering, which I did, and now it's OK. |

Nice one Lightning - was going to suggest relay then read your follow-up post. That large (and costly) relay is responsible for all sorts of lighting maladies (lights not going on, motor going bonkers etc) so you will have nipped other problems in bud. On the issue of you being shy about posting frequently and annoying people, nothing could be further from the truth! Personally I am really pleased to see the 928 forum getting busier. More practically many people search (without necessarily posting) for tips on sorting problems so leaving posts on is valuable resource. I also reckon that the more often people see forum content change, the more often they drop-in to check it so it's all positive. |
