Yep, Thats the one! Well Done.. Was a great car, quite nippy for a 1.6! I think my "filenames" may have given it away.... ![]() |

I think that's a Mark 1A rather than 1B which I ran for 9 years from new! Fantastic car - mini Ferrari. Think 1A because of seats and the steering wheel was changed for 1B. |

Very true Stephen. I'm struggling to remember a single problem with the car, aside from a snapped fan belt in my final year of ownership (my fault for ignoring the squealing noises for too long!). The sole irritation was the brief period when the Eagle bonnet badge was a desirable collector's item (this was the era of Beastie Boys and VW badges being nicked too remember). Gearchange was an astonishing switch-like, rifle bolt affair. Rev limit was something ridiculous and it would spin up there like an electric motor. Considering the little 16V sat right behind you it was a very refined car in which to enjoy long motorway journeys as well as the winding roads which were its forte. Wasn't interested in the least in the Mk 2 version which was very soggy to drive by comparison. |
