Had a look underneath the car today, no corrosion apart from some furring of alloy parts. Not bad for 20 years old. My Transit van is showing surface corrosion of the chassis and it's less than a year old.
Flexplate....got the cover off and it needed doing. Released it OK and refitted cover, easy job. (non cat though)
A couple of other things, can anybody advise. The radiator cooling fans stop when you turn off the ignition, the handbook suggests they should run on? Also the air vents behind the grille at the front of the car are open all the time. I tried the manual adjustment but the motor took over and reset them to full open....so the mechanism clearly works. Where is the sensor for the operation of these vents located? They are supposed to be closed until the engine gets warm, according to the handbook.
