Post subject:  MUG?

People think I have Mug stamped on my forehead because I drive a 928.
My headlight motor stopped working the other day so I took the car to a car electrician and was promptly told 'It's packed up mate, cooked itself, he then told me he would take the motor apart fix and refit it, but it was a lengthy job and he would have to take the air con rad out, this alerted me to the fact that nothing was said about re-charging the system, '£350 quid mate' was the quote, so I sourced a motor from Fraserparts, who were really helpful, for £40 plus £8 p/p and I fitted it and went nowhere near the air con rad.
Now for the next job.

You did well there - I paid £50 for a motor from someone who was parting his S4. Used part but works perfectly and smoothly.

Ironically I had to replace old motor because it had gone haywire and punched hole in aircon rad! I think this is a negative proof of fact that if all working correctly, there's no need to remove the condensor as you found (very odd that guy suggested it as the motor and its connector sit in front of the condensor.

I think he was trying to justify his rip off prices, needless to say I won't be going back there again.

Hi Stelios :)

When my lights played around...(sticking partially up) I stripped and rebuilt the motor and all the linkages and then it was still the same lol

Then someone told me its almost ALWAYS the relay (the big double one) which I then changed and cured it lol...after about 10 hours labour on the motor and linkages...

Worth remembering in case it happens to anyone else...

All the best Brett :)
