Check out these pic's of this stretched four door 928. It's a rare, stretched wheelbase, four door 928 with estate/coupe rear. it WAS made by Porsche and AMG and presented to the CEO of aftermarket customizer American Sunroof Corp. (ASC).

There are apparently a few of these in existence, dating from 1986. They differ from the Porsche 942, as you know, which was made for Ferdinand Porsche's 75th birthday in 1984, because they have standard 928 headlights.

Do you think that this is where Porsche got there inspiration from for the Panamera?

I think that most people will hate it, but I'd rather have this than a Cayenne any day. :mrgreen:

Hi :)

Wow good find....and you are right it looks a lot like the Panamera....I don't like that back lip where the spoiler should be though.

All the best Brett :)

Reminds me a bit of the Jenson Interceptor. And that was too big.

That looks OK! You can see where Mazda got the idea for the doors on the RX8! Some gorgeous cars at the concours especially the 1939 Alfa 256 :)

Suicide door was exactly my thought as well. Wonder how the extra length affected handling?

Interesting car, nice find. :)

Suicide doors fit the shape well, looks like the rear handles are hidden by the front door.

Rear end is a bit odd, could use a rubber 944 spoiler or something.

As there is no B pillar you would have to open the front door first to then be able to open the rear door.you can see some kind of door fastening on the sill.As you say,the long wheelbase and lack of a B pillar makes you wonder about rigidity. I think it needs some kind of small spoiler on the back.It does look remarkably like the Panamera! I might swap my old Volvo estate for that but I dont think the dogs would be too keen,bit cramped at the rear!! :)

Don't know if its been covered here before, but the latest classic car mag has a feature on a 4-door 911;

looks a bit stretch and wouldn't fancy trying to get the rear end back if it let go ;D

Yes I saw that mag.

The god-awful shape only underlines how perfect Butzi Porsche's original 911 design was. This 4 door version looks alarmingly like one of those Czech Tatra jobs (I suppose they were rear-engined, albeit V8)
