Post subject: | Fitting a reversing camera need to find the easiest reverse |
I have bought a JVC head unit with 3.5" screen so I can fit & use a reversing camera. This needs to connect to the reverse light wire to give power when reverse gear is selected. - Can anyone suggest the easiest place to connect into the revers light circuit? [my88 S4] I have looked around the rear lights etc but there is nowhere easy to make a connection. As a separate issue - the radio signal is very weak / poor. Have tried a couple of head units on most of them cannot receive radio stations - just my old kenwood? Is there an aerial booster somewhere that may have gone faulty? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Steve |

Just had a more detailed look at my aerial problem - - Checked the 250mA power out for the aerial & that's all connected - If I hold the aerial connector I get a better reception - If I UN-Plug the aerial all together the radio signal is BETTER??? How do you figure that one out? |

Hi Steve. Have you located the antenna amp? I think for your MY it's a matchbox sized item below dash. Away from my manuals so can't check location. Better reception unplugged v plugged in is symptom of failed rf amp |

Just checked - on LHD car it's 3" x 3" box behind glovebox on RHS, mounted on cabin side of firewall. Should be same place on RHD so have good look under pod |

"Can anyone suggest the easiest place to connect into the revers light circuit? [my88 S4]" Steve I haven't got a clue on wiring on a 928 but logically thinking out loud here won't there be a connection to the reverse light circuit from bottom of the gear selecter somewhere rather than having to run a wire all the way to rear lights on car? Hi Chris Yes, that should be the case - was just hoping to find a reverse signal wire quickly in the boot of the car since all the Rennlist forum listings call out for a Black/Blue wire to tap into at the tool tray - but I can't find the bugger! |
