That's interesting Ben thanks for tip and for kind words.

I have disconnected lines at rack as means rack can be shoved further out of way with no strain on the lines. But I removed them from crossmember before lowering crossmember, so unless it's much easier your way, I was going to reattach them after crossmember in place so that assembly was reverse order.

If someone was replacing the pressure or return PS line they would not need to remove crossmember. I'm very interested to know why putting lines on before wrestling x-member into place works better?

Thanks

Hi Adrian

My memory is slightly hazy and you have a later model 928 so the ps lines could be different but as you can see from photo I took below even with the cross member removed and with the steering rack still attached - the ps lines are still in relatively the same position as they would be running in the cross member lip and there was not much movement on them as they were still clipped to the engine bay side wall.

I just remember laying under the car having spent all day re-fitting the cross member and then not having enough movement on the lines to get them back into the lip . D'oh! :? [But you sound like you know what you're doing. :D ]

Ben.

Nice photo Ben!

The 91 pressure line is slightly different from yours - it clamps horizontally to engine wall do when released (I removed wall clamp) it allows both lines to move a lot.

I will do test fit when crossmember back in. If it's a problem I will lower and attach lines to x-member before trying to locate it. Lots of fun!

Cheers

Adrian
