Hi guys, well today was my first day of tinkering and quite an eventfull one it was. I have had problems with it over heating even though its been totally rebuilt so after a little internet sniffing I diagnosed the themostat was either missing or not working and in fact upon inspection the guy who built it had actuall cut the middle out of it and this according to the forums actually makes them run hotter, replaced it and bingo....... runs half way constantly.

Now I have trawled the Autodata books at work and cant find anywhere the timing settings for my 4.7 nor if the vacuum needs to be connected during distributor timing adjustment or left on and also which marks on the bottom pulley to line it up with (not that they make any sense) can anyone help me please?

I also have a pipe comming from the top middle of the plenum that then runs down the bulk head and then heads off under the car to the gearbox but its broken off and plugged air tight just under the drivers seat and for the love of god I cant see where it goes on the gear box, again any help would be brilliant especially pics or diagrams.

Apart from those few points she is running lovely and I cant wait to get her out on the road.

Hi Jase :)

Assuming you have the same TWIN distributor system that I have , although you can CHECK the timing, you cannot alter it, as its controlled electronically...

The pipe is the vacuum control for the autobox (I think) and "should" be connected...

How is the box changing ??? good or bad and is the kickdown working ok ??

All the best Brett :)

Yeah it definately goes to the box but I cant see where for the life of me, mine is earlier than yous so its single dizzy and is adjustable but the pipe is more important at the mo.

Ta Jase :D
