Post subject: | Plastic Repairs |
Hi all. I've stripped the front end of my 928 down so I can get the bumper resprayed. This has involved taking off all the plastic parts (wheel liners, spoiler, etc). Just about all these have crack in them somewhere or another and although I haven't priced new parts up I'm sure they would be expensive. So I want to have a go at repairing them while they are out. Does anyone have any ideas what would be best for working with plastic? Currently I'm thinking along the lines of UniBond Repair Power Epoxy Plastic, but see there could be a few options. |

Depends really on what type of plastic it is ... I've had great success with black ABS and a soldering iron but glueing almost any kind of plastic can be a proper pain in the derriere... Have a look at methacrylate adhesives, they will stick most plastics but the are the foulest smelling glue I have ever used ... there's also a 2 part bumper repair glue like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-SUPER-G ... 56306c2fce that will do a great job too ... Like the soldering iron idea might work for the crack in my front spoiler. Most of the damage is around the holes where the bolts go through on the arches etc, probably due to being overtightened. I've decided to have a go with a hot glue gun and have ordered some black sticks. |
