Hi, My powered radio aerial on the roof of my 1989 S4 928 is dead and needs to be replaced. Does anyone know where to get an exact replacement and then I can fit, looks fun as the sunroof motor is blocking the connector. cheers Neil |

Hi Neil I had to replace mine when the amp failed. They are expensive from OPC but pop up on eBay time to time (I have a brand new antenna base with the amp as a spare that I picked up for almost nothing on ebay). I replaced mine though with a Golf Mk II antenna from Euro Car Parts. Don't have my service record file with me for the exact stock number, but I remember I just got the guy there to bring out a bunch of Golf antennae, and I picked the one with same thread on base. It's not exact replacement (original has square shape round thread to stop it turning when you tighten, and square gasket to match) but I've had no water leaks using this. It was about £20. The sunroof motor is very easy to get out the way. The bushing for gearbox pulls off, and the motor is held on by couple of bolts. The metal tubes carrying sunroof cables block access to the antenna hole in roof, but they push aside very easily. You need a box spanner to undo the nut holding antenna base to roof. 17mm from memory |

Hi, Amazing I disconnected the power to the powered antenna and it is working now. I know I need to buy the real thing one day but at least I have a radio signal now. cheers Neil |

That is known symptom of RF amplifier gone bad. But if you have a sensitive enough receiver as yours us then seems a good result! |
