1990 car will be R12 unless already converted, there are some drop in gases for R12 systems or alternately convert it to R134 but that will need all new O rings, new dryer & probably condenser. That is assuming everything else is OK.

Looks like Richard Armstrong is the man to fix it for you. Perhaps he can give you an idea of cost?

Beg to differ Brett - mine just needed regas! But I had in past replaced relay and freeze switch (common fail points), so the system was running right up to regas (the loss of refrigerant not enough to trigger low pressure switch) and all seals consequently in good condition.

If system functional aside from low gas, conversion requires evacuation and change of fittings, fill with synthetic oil and charge with 134a. Jim is right that new seals and drier needed if the system was empty or not running before, as seals will fail and allow moisture in and refrigerant out!

Ras you say Richard will sort whatever needed, and will assess precisely how much or how little needs to be replaced. Original poster should just google Ritech Systems.

Following regas couple of weeks ago I had to turn system off on way to Silverstone - too damn cold!

Best

Adrian

Hi Adrian :)

I meant...as in the classic Ebay 928 for sale advert... as in "Aircon just needs regas" lol

Mine needed a regas so badly , it leaked everywhere.... and I do mean EVERYWHERE... :)

So Paul and I removed the lot..... I have a sunroof for cool air anyway..

All the best Bett :)
