Are you sure about that - standard rear wheels on an S4 have an offset of 52.3mm and I thought that any wheel that fitted an S4 would also fit one of the earlier ones?

I'd be more worried about the offset at the front being very different from stock.

Hi :)

ALL 928s have a 65 offset on fronts and backs.....

If yours have 52...they are not genuine S4 wheels....

All the best Brett :)

Hi :)

I am wrong in previous post.....I was assuming all 928s had the same offset as my S2...

Look at this link , which explains which are which...

http://928registry.org/928-wheels.htm

BUT ...it does depend on which type of suspension you have...so a 928 with 65/65 Front and rear ORIGINALLY should ideally have as close to that as possible...

All the best Brett :)

I'm not going to argue with you there

I haven't actually gone out and measured the amount of space in the rear wheelarch, but I would think that 10" wide wheels with an offset of 65 on the rear might be a bit of a squeeze (assuming you can actually find such a thing without getting custom split rims) but if you've already got them on your car, you presumably know better :dontknow:

Hi :)

I had to remove my factory spacers to fit the 10s on the back because if I left the spacers on there was literally a credit card size gap left between top of tyre and arch :(

The problem with removing the spacers is that you have to fit steel open ended race nuts as the studs are too long for standard nuts...the standard ones fit rather neatly on top of the race nuts and you cannot really tell the difference by looking :)

The steel race nuts are available from the big three 928 suppliers in the US..as in the US they will NOT let you race a 928 with the standard nuts on...they HAVE to be steel...

All the best Brett :)

More importantly they have to be open, to show at least 1 1/2 threads protruding outside the nut to show the studs are long enough.
Standard practice on all fastners in aviation & motor sports.

Brett,

I have a set of 18" Sport Design "GT3" wheels from my old Boxster S that I am going to put on eBay soon, they are 18 x 9 offset 52 on the rear and 18 x 7.5 offset 50 on the front. They have tyres on them (Pirelli Asymetricos) that are 265 on the rear and 225 or 235 on the front - the tyres are still legal but low on tread (about 1.5 - 2mm above the legal minimum).

The reason that I took them off is that they are looking pretty shabby mainly due to the lacquer on them lifting (a well known fault for these wheels - in their infinite wisdom Porsche had the rims polished and then lacquered - the lacquer doesn't stick well to the polished surface hence the problem). The best resolution is to remove the rim section, turn it on a lathe to get a good surface and then to prime and paint. There are also a few parking rashes, but a refurb would take these out as well. The centres are fine.

I bought some re-furbed wheels to replace them a couple of year's ago (cost about £600 plus another £550 for the tyres), these have been sitting outside (plus PiG used them to put his car on while he refurbed his wheels). I was going to put them on eBay for about £300 so if your brother is interested in them in that sort of price range please drop me a PM.

I probably have some pictures somewhere if you would like to see them.

Cheers,
Mike.
