Might as well stick this all in one thread. If you can help out, please post up.

1) Central locking. The fob no longer works but the light doesn't come on on the key so i'm assuming battery is dead. The central locking inside the car works with the button so hopefully just need a new battery. Are they standard sized? Ebay item do the job?

2) MPG guage. How accurate are they? Is an average 15mpg typical for an S4?

3) Spoilers. Not overly keen on the flat rubber tail on the car. Fancy something a little different like a smaller Strosek version. Any suggestions?

4) Exhausts. Does anyone have an exploded diagram and advice on which parts to remove and make a straight through and which to keep?

5) Rear 3/4 window trim on the passenger side is coming away at the very rear. How are they fixed in, sikaflex or similar?

That should keep me busy for now :)

MPG? ha! I get anything from 9 around town to 23 on a run depending on which shoes I'm wearing. :)

rear quarter window trims are a nightmare to fit. the two long pieces push in and the two curved end caps slide over the ends and have a bit that catches into the rubber. Almost impossible to fit with the window in. your best bet is to take the entire window out, refit the rubber to the glass, put it on a bench, fit the trim sections in and then parachute cord the whole thing back in place. you may be able to find a spreader/roller tool but I couldnt.

Ha, i was thinking the MPG might be accurate.

I'll see if i can get someone in a bodyshop to help out with the window trim then. Thanks for that.

be careful that the rubber hasn't been stuck in. Replacing the trim is cheap enough. replacing the rubber is not!

If you've got the "official" Hamilton & Palmer remote fob then it's a 12v A23 battery, available in Halfords or Maplin (it's common type for key fobs).

Mpg should average low 20s. Up to high 20s on motorway run. 15mpg only if you're doing lots of short runs in town. The 32V has highly sophisticated injection so it's economical for its size. Much more economical than air-cooled flat six! The mpg gauge on trip computer is very accurate. You can also recalibrate for accurate measure of fuel remaining (details in owner manual)

Re; the spoiler

I don't like it either so I just removed it, yet don't go too near the purists who feel they need to tell you that they don't like how it looks!

I think it looks awesome without it, it's just 4 bolts try it...

Another alternative, this spoiler is from an Audi TT.

Not sure about the tt spoiler but I love the innovation.

Any idea how, much I'd get back from a fairly new standard exhaust system if I sell it 2nd hand? roughly.

Best place to advertise and ask is the 928 UK mailing list, did you join? I've seen them go on flebay for £500 to £800 depending on demand at the time?
