Hi,

New Lasso pump with plastic impeller is a good, well tested and inexpensive option available on Ebay de at around 195 euros including all new hardware and new gasket. I have a new unused Kempf belt tension testing tool you can have for £25 please contact me if you are interested.

Adrian.

Of all the things I'd put on my 928, a cheap belt and pump aren't on the list. A recipe for disaster. I'd buy the belt and pump fro 928srus and expect quality. The cost of repairing the engine if it all goes wrong isn't worth the risk. I hope you buy good quality. :D

Hi :)

Let me echo what Lee said....

Do NOT put on a cheap pump, unless you are very good at replacing valves and damaged heads or engines....

There is a problem with the cheap ones where the impeller detaches and wrecks your engine....:(

As said buy a GOOD pump from either RogeR at 928SRUS or from Paul Anderson....

Its not like you will be changing it every year....most people get a minimum of 4 years and sometimes 6...

All the best Brett :)

Absolutely!

Cheap bits on a supercar (and lets face it, the 928 is exactly that) often end in tears.

Take the opportunity to change the rollers, front engine oil seals, distributor caps, rotor arms, thermostat as well as the waterpump and belts. A job well done will see that area good for at least 8 to 10 years and you will just need to change the belt in 4 to 5 years.

We can match price like for like with the likes of Euro, PorscheShop, Design911, GSF, except for cheap parts we will not sell (I do not want to have to pay for your engine rebuild when it goes wrong) and if you are a tipec member we can discount another 10% on their standard retail prices. But we only sell Genuine or OEM, not cheap aftermarket.

£25 for a tension tool is good and I would bite their hand off before someone beats you too it, we have that tool, as well as the factory tool, Kricket and the dayco and gates tools, and apart from the factory tool it is the best one for a 928, but easier to handle than the factory tool!

We do not sell that tool though, only the Kricket.

I would also recommend a Continental Belt. They along with Dayco and Gates were the original suppliers, but continental are the only ones who have continued to improve the specification, now with a kevlar core banding, whereas I think Dayco and Gates are still on normal fibres. Typically the same price though.

If you do this yourself, you will be in good company here, plenty of help and advice, as well as the satisfaction of doing it yourself will be great (once you get over the "did I do it right??" question every time you push it harder than the drive before! lol

From what I have read the Laso pump with the plastic propeller is the way to go. As per what tiffyh said. That is what 928srus sell. http://s287999742.e-shop.info/shop/cata ... hop_param= . I have seen it being spelt Lasso and Larso. I don't know if these are misspellings or cheap knockoffs trading on a similar name.
