Has anyone replaced the outer window scraper/seals on their car? Mine seem to have shrunk and no longer stretch the full length of the window. It is about an inch short above were the lock is and a little short on the other end too.

Porsche shop want about £90 a side but the guy in this video looks like he did a good job with a generic rubber scraper cut to size.

Does anyone know where and what to buy to do this. I have seen a few sites that sell various rubbers but haven't a clue which would fit.

Cheers,
Mike

He says on the video that it's from 928srus. Phone Roger Tyson and ask him. The last time I asked him, he said the originals are £190 for the pair and never mentioned after market ones. You can ask on the 928UK mailing list.

I have had a new driver side strip hanging around my garage for 2 or 3 years now!

It's to replace one which hasn't shrunk like yours, but where the installation is not very neat (the bit where at kicks up at corner above lock has been cut from the seal, then glued on separately!).

But these seals are apparently a real hassle to install without the right technique, which is why I've held off installing it. Have had no problems with other seals on the car, but this one intimidates me till I come across a foolproof way of doing it properly. The seal is expensive (but I picked this one up quite a bit cheaper than the prices referred to above as it was on ebay).

The techniques I've seen on rennlist deem to involve using screwdriver handle pushing down at just the right angle, while praying to the 928 gods.

Just fitted 2 to my 928 took about 1/2 3/4 hrs each side on bear doors glass removed for re paint and plenty of washing up liquid after having got about 6"on it would be easier with 2 people one to feed it on and one to pull at the same time.Genuine Porsche parts.

The seals are perished on both sides of my car.

Would be interested to see if there is an after market option and hard/easy they would be to fit.

Just got word back from 928srus. The aftermarket ones in the video I posted are $120 for the pair. From the video they look easy enough to fit. I'll let you know how it goes when I get them.
