As above, this is on the sticker in the car and the book, does anyone know what colour this is?

Cheers

L999 is colour matched to sample so it won't have a paint name. So it could match nail varnish, someone's favourite shirt etc.

Correct. As I said if you have the money you can literally get whatever you want & they'll scan a sample & match the paint to it.

Interesting... my paint to sample Porsche says Y39 Azure Blue on the door jam.

That's very possible Nick. The "to sample" coded was also applied to colours available from Porsche but not for that car in that model year (it may for instance have been offered in past year for that car).

Original poster can be reassured that there is no magic in Porsche scanning your sample. Virtually anyone with paint mix facility can go that if you give them easily removed item from car (eg filler flap). Or less hi-tech but as effective they will pick close match standard colour then tint it gradually till it matches. Paint colour ages anyway so scanning or matching colour by eye is a good approach.

Hi John, I had the same problem with my 928. The colour was a Mercedes Blue.

I ended up phoning Porsche Cars GB. I faxed them across the details from the service book.

They came back to me with the code & colour within a few hours.

Hope this helps

Regards
John

yep, but don't forget the paint will almost certainly have faded, take the car,or a component to a paint wholesaler and get them to match it, its dead easy, almost certainly free, if you buy your paint there. I thought someone had suggested this definitive resolution earlier in the thread :?

Petrol filler flap door is the easiest thing to remove for your colour match
