Took the car for a mot yesterday, had one done in Sept last year failed on some brake parts, sorted all this, got to the test centre, tested brakes all fine ![]() drove to the ramp and...there was a trail of red fluid going up to the car oops, looks like power steering is leaking somewhere (hopefully pipes) Anyone had any issue withb there Power steering, and are there any common issue tio check first also when driving the car in lower gears, it seems to hesitate (vibrate) is this a problem with the auto box?, seems ok if you push it a little? Cheers John |

Are you sure the leak is not Auto Transmission Fluid (ATF) ? Auto gear boxes will mess around on gear changes if this is low - or have a leak causing loss of pressure. |

Likely source if leaving trail is pinhole failure in high pressure line from pump to rack. I have changed that line on S4 but not on S2 so don't know if it runs same route. Also check steering rack boots for accumulated fluid inside boots. The pressure line is more common failure and crucial to fix ASAP - ATF fluid can cause fire if sprays on exhaust manifold which it runs adjacent to on S4 |

Yip, this is what happened to me, nearly lost the car when it sprayed onto the manifold. I think that the fluid was old and thick, so it didn't ignite. Nice fresh fluid also make all the difference too. ![]() |
