Hi John

I'm not sure that 'lube' is the best solution in this instance because the dimmer is of the copper resistance coil / copper contactor design and removing the copper oxide / dirt with light emery paper is normally only what is required.

This is one of the first jobs I did when I first got my 928 11 years ago and its worked fine ever since.

Be very careful with the dimmer though as quite delicate and I distinctly remember a lot of sparks when I tried to dismantle mine. :!: It may be advisable to disconnect the battery or pull the fuse.

Hi John, I recently bought a new dimmer switch for my 928, think it was about £40. I too had done the cleaning etc, and it worked for a while, but after recently having the dash pod apart and yet another examination of the dimmer, I thought it was fixed again, but no, hence a new one.
FYI..., you can access the switch fairly easy without removing the pod , the switch (on mine) is held with one self tapper, and a plastic locating peg moulded to the dimmer body to locate it in position.., took me around twenty minutes, but I have an "old back"
