Hi :)

Two problems with that lol...

Hes changed the engine for a small block... :(

That 6:71 blower is off a Top Fuel or ProMod engine and its MUCH too big (flow-wise) for the engine...

Apart from that I love the colour :)

All the best Brett :)

Ummm not to sure about the swap for a SBC but it loooks good. Brett the blower is positive displacement so can be run at any speed depending on capacity of engine & boost requirements. I think most of the drag motors massively over speed the blower to get big boost. 6-71 has been quite common for US V8s over the years.

Yeah I was talking to a supercharger specialist about fitting a roots blower to one of the 4.0 V6s that I was going to use until I found the 4.7 Porsche V8. He said that using a 6-71 and under-driving it would be better than using a 4-71 which is probably a more 'correct' size. Still might fit one to my 4.7 one day when I am feeling rich and done my suspension and spaceframe.

The big block drag motors tend to run 8-71s and bigger... right up to a 16-71 for a top fuel dragster. Well they are producing 8000hp afterall :)

There is a Vortech V5-G in my garage which would probably suit this which I'd sell for the right offer!

Never been a fan of Vortecs... might as well turbo it in my opinion. You cant beat the look and instant boost of a roots or Lysholm! While Lysholms are more efficient they dont look nearly as good as a roots with a bird catcher :)

I guess it depends on whether you like the look of 'my car goes ultra fast, don't even bother trying to race me' or the 'my car looks standard but actually will kick your ass any time.' As you might have guessed I prefer the former... though dont go thinking I like baked-bean-can exhausts etc... it has to perform to at least how it looks in my opinion!

By Vortech I assume you mean centrifugal blowers. The problem is that is you have adequate bottom end torque then more just means you break things. So the centrifugal gives turbo like rising boost. The pd blowers are more inefficient as the boost & revs rise, more importantly something big enough to do a decent job doesn't fit under the bonnet. I have a M65 in my garage from a Merc Kompressor & it is enormous!

I love bonnet bulges and scoops :) Not everyone's cup of tea though! lol

Yeah too much bottom end does break stuff, but if you are serious about performance then you should get a drivetrain to handle the power. And unless you are doing all out track racing with a light car and close ratio box, a nice broad torque curve is more useful than an ultra high peak power. Even in our old supercharged formula racer we used to beat the turbo cars... they had 10% or more peak power but our torque curve was pretty much flat from 5000rpm all the way until 10,000!
