Post subject:  Cup Alloys & price fixing by Porsche-apart UK - watch out!

Just a heads up for everyone.
Have been watching a few sets of Cup Alloys on ebay for 928 & 968 with ET65 & ET55 offsets for the front. They keep disappearing?
I asked Porsche-apart if they had any and they said yes but £1000 plus for a set!!! Bit steep and top end!
When I probed them about this they said they buy them for around 500 off ebay and re-sell them for £1000.
I told them good luck if people were mad enough to pay that price.

Yesterday the 2 sets I missed had their auction ended early - Both sellers have told me that Porsche-apart have bought them & the auctions ended early.

Beware of these guys trying to inflate the prices or Cup Alloys. The 968 set I was watching were ET65 on the fronts and were going for around £250 with a few hours to go for the set before the listing was ended early. Even if they went for £400 and you got each wheel refurbished it only costs £50 per wheel so £800 MAX. Porsche Apart selling them for £1500 refurbished or £1000 in current state is just greed.

Hope everyone ignores Porsche-apart and their Cup Alloy sales.....They must think we are all MUGS! :):):)

Buy from them at your own peril!

I will keep hunting for my Cup Alloys and beat those guys to the next set! :)

I had been watching those wheels as well Steve.

Now it makes sense why they ended so soon.

As if it isn't hard enough to get a decent set of wheels.

I had only been watching these since you had pointed the link out to me. I had been chasing a set of 968 wheels which Porsche-apart had advertised and offered to me for a low price of £100 when they realised the mistake they then requoted me over £1000. Thats when the discussion ensued and they told me they buy them up for less than £600 and mark them up to sell over £1000 or over £1600 of they get them refurbished.

Then I noticed this morning the Wheels you were looking at had gone and you told me you were looking at some others. So I mailed the seller to find out why they had been removed from auction & he told me that Porsche-apart had picked them up this morning and he had pulled the advert off ebay.

Felt like punching someone! :):):)

No scrupples those guys.

We will search on and hope to dodge the Porsche-apart vulture team scouring the ebay circus.

This is annoying! Best thing to do is get in there first - Also check other places such as the VW fan boys forums and gumtree... They do come up - It's just a case of waiting and getting in there quick when they do come up!

I'm looking for a set of 16" tele's or drain covers at the minute but there doesn't seem to be a great deal about :albino:

Thanks Steve... Keep an eye on Gumtree as well - Always worth a look. I often check dodgy spellings on ebay too, for instance on ebay if you search for "Por* -Porsche", you will get all the Porsche items which are misspelt which is handy.

If you want to be able to pick up all the wrong spellings on nebay here's a good tip....

try "Fat Fingers" as a search on the web

- its a front end search for ebay and works on the basis of finding all the permutations of miss-spelt words in your search string. You would be suprised what gets picked up by all the different miss-spellings of words.

Its worth using the link.

My wheels will be coming up for sale in a few weeks, once I have my Cup2's on. I could meet you at the border if you want to drive up for them. They're not mint and could do with a refurb.
