Hi JOHN :)

As at least one speed works perfectly, I would guess its the switch itself.....I would also have said maybe the 2 temp sensors (internal and external) but if one of those was playing up you would only get VERY hot or cold...nothing in between....

All the best Brett :)

Hi :)

The switch comes without the knob or nut under the knob and according to PET 7 the number is 928 613 127 00 and its roughly 154 euros :(

Its the sort of switch you can usually get through Ebay though... I would anyway lol :)

All the best Brett :)

John, there is a guy who has a few 928's breaking in the UK. These are terminal cars that he is using to build one good car. If you go here 928.uk and look at number 5. His name is Simon and I've used him several times. Just phone his mobile and tell him you were pointed there by me and he will make sure you get what you need. Let us know how you get on.

Hi John

Sounds like classic symptoms of failure of the resistor pack which controls the blower motor. There is failure mode where overheat safety cuts in and blows air at max speed over the resistors ( wire coils).

Access is under the plastic rain cover under windscreen.

There are various tricks to retrieving the pack from the blower fan ducting. Google Nichols 928 tips or check Rennlist for many write-ups for the procedure.

It's such a common fault it has a name: "Magic blower syndrome".

Won't be a fault with temp sensors as they control only the mix of hot/cold air, not the blower motor itself.

Cheers

Adrian
