Hi All :)

I have decided that with my new 1000 hp Nitrous system being fitted
this winter plus a parachute, it might be a good idea to fit a race
seat and harness...lol

I think as the seat behind mine is the only passenger seat left I will
have to anchor the harness on the rear strut mount as I cannot fit a
full cage..

This means the Race seat will have to still tilt forward...unless the
race seat will slide far enough forward to let a passenger into the
back... and possibly still have the original Porsche belt for when
carrying passengers, as well as the harnesses.

Any idea on make and mountings etc from anyone...price isn't really a
factor as I figure my life is worth a few quid :)

All the best Brett :)

Had harnesses in a variety of road cars, normally keeping the existing seat belts (eases MOT hassle for one thing).
Mega important point is that the shoulder straps must not exceed 45 Degrees from horizontal from the top most point of the seat, otherwise you'll be squiged in the event of putting it on its roof. Standard way unless you have a cage is to get a bar made in roll cage tubing 50mm x 2mm CDS2 that goes full width of the car, in a 928 from each of the strut towers & mount the shoulder straps to that. If you have a cage then get beam put across at the correct height.
RAC scruitineers get very excited about tilting seats & normally prefer them locked, not sure if that's an issue for you, also if you use the harness on the road then it must be E Marked, never heard of anyone getting stopped but it's a possibility I suppose. Techinically Plod can still do even an E marked harness as one of the requirements is "Able to be clipped in with one hand" again it's possible but not heard of it.

What about this: click me
Then you can have a harness bar. And a smidgen of protection if you do a "Hammond".

Jim.

Hi Jim :)

That would do perfectly apart form the fact its for LHD :(

So the mounting would lose me the final rear seat lol :(

If it was for RHD I would go for it...I will email them and ask if they will reverse it though :)

All the best Brett :)
