:) To be honest the Allegro only cost £50 with a spare engine and loads of MOT, It was only a temporary measure ..... honest you were robbed!!! Seriously though the new CPS appears to have done the trick, it was a 280 mile round trip from my house to Tilford today and it didn't miss a beat, I was also pleased that the new ABS relay seems to have cured my woes with the diff. control/anti lock warning message blinding me from the dash. Now all I need to do is cure the chronic oil consumption and I'll be ecstatic! :)

Glad you got it running, sorry I couldn't get to meet you today but my engine is in bits. Next time maybe. is the oil consumption really that excessive?

:( Lee, I could probably tolerate the oil consumption if it wasn't for the embarassing cloud of smoke it belches out on the over run. I'd also really like to clean up my engine bay and get rid of 17 years of grime. In order to it properly it's going to be best to take the engine out in which case I shall bite the bullet and set about sorting it. It may take two or three months over winter because I know it's not going to be cheap as there will undoubtedly be bits that it will pay to replace whle I've got it out as preventative maintenance. :)

As long as it is running now that's the main thing. We can talk once you're ready to take the engine out. I've left mine in, but I'm changing pretty much most of the gaskets ( except the cylinder heads ) and breather hoses round the engine. Once I'm finished I can scan the reciepts and give you prices for the main parts. Just need to watch out for some part numbers, yours is the 5.4 ltr and mine is only the 5.0 ltr. I'm sure it will be worth it.
