Mark

I couldn't find mine either initially.
It will be high up tucked away behind one of the boxes or tucked behind the actual fuse box itself.

I can send you some more pics off-list if where I found mine if that will help.

Hi Mark

The connector plug should be tucked up above the Dim/Dip aluminium box on the left bulkhead in the footwell..see below.
If it isn't there then look behind the fuse board or up above the fuseboard in the looms of wires & hoses. It may have been tucked there instead.

Good Luck

Steve

Steve, I unscrewed the fuse board and with a torch found it, I'm so happy to have finally got the lights working properly.

All in all amazing

I've dropped the old girl off to be serviced, and cant wait to get her back.

All the very best Mark

I've now replaced the W3W lamps in the pod [instrument illumination] with LED's with good results.

I used 5mm ultra bright 3.3v blue LED's with a 660 ohm 0.6w in line resistor to limit the voltage.

I heat shrunk the LED and resistor and mounted them on a small piece of double sided PCB to fit into the bulb holder and then bent the LED so that it points directly down when in final position.

The tricky part is working out what the polarity of the socket is as they are all different depending on what model 928 you have! Mine was -+/+-/-+ [looking at the back of the assembly]

Bench results here [not tested on the road yet ]

Ben
You could have saved yourself a lot of trouble and drove round & picked up a fell set of dash bulbs in no time from us.
Woodypeck Ltd sell replacement LED dash bulbs as well as all light bulbs for our 928's

You are correct about the fitment & polarity of the socket. We found at our cost & the help or Paul Lacey who fitted some. Seems the early 928 are Grey caps and they have double contacts on both sides of the cap. The S2 has Brown caps & they have only the left contact each side active and the S4 has Black cap sockets and they are kike the early cars with double terminals on both sides of the caps. If you don't spot the difference you can short out the bulb - don't ask me how I know!

Here are our 3w LED bulbs in the dash socket
