Hi Brett,

That is really good of you to offer. I would be concerned about letting you down on getting them back to you though as I would be reliant on the seller dropping the car off at my place on time.

Having looked at Ebay just now looks like I can get some pretty cheap anyway so will buy some.

I do have a question though for those in the know. I see some boxster wheels going through cheap. Would these fit?

I can't make up my mind if I want restore to orignal condition or modify. If original then i guess i need some slots which i could then get refurbed but priority is getting something on it so it can be transported down.

Decisions, Decisions!

Regards
Paul

Hi Paul :)

If you can wait another week until around the 25th, my refurbs will be done by then so getting them (the slots) back to me will be no rush...or you can buy them from me...

Boxster wheels will depend on size and offset.... let me know here what they are and I will tell you....

All the best Brett :)

Thanks Brett,

Good point on the wheels nuts, I had been wondering about that. Hopefully there are some on the car. Will ask the seller. If not, I see some on Ebay.

I am waiting for him to get back to me so will find out what times scale he can work to.

Will come back on the Boxster wheel sizes. I am trawling through ebay now. I notice a set of slots have a couple of days to go and are at £150. Shame I dont have time to buy all the single wheels as they seem to go for virtually nothing!

Thanks again for the support!

Regards
Paul

Hi Paul :)

Don`t pay more than £200 for slots as I would let you have mine for that with good legal rubber on them all....

All the best Brett :)

Great, thanks Brett ... Sounds like a plan. If I don't need them before the 25th or can't find a set of slots or other suitable wheel before then will take them off you.
Thanks, Regards
Paul

Will these Boxster wheels fit? Just a temp until get correct slots. If buyer can wait until after 25th will get your slots Brett.

Hi Paul :)

Nope ...rear offset is not close enough to 65 on a 928...

All the best Brett :)

Brett its only 15mm on the rears are they that tight on the 928, if it is just to move the car? Few washers behind the wheel?

Hi :)

Standard wheels already have a 21 mm spacer...so they MIGHT get it off and on a trailer....but I wouldn't drive on them and without more spacing I think they will hit the rear discs :(

I would try them BEFORE you pay anything for them.....

All the best Brett :)

Hmmmmm, it seems the safest way is to track some proper wheels down for a 928 rather than take a chance.

I am still going to hold out for yours if I can Brett, but waiting to hear when the guy wants to drop it off. hopefully he wont want to drop it off straight away.

I did find out it has wheel nuts, so thats one less thing to worry about!

Regards
Paul

The later 928s had a rear offset of 52 with 8" or 9" wide wheels, so I'm not sure why these Boxster wheels with ET50 and width 8.5" are so different?

The fronts with ET55 are generally considered the minimum "sensible" offset, not because of fitment but because of the suspension geometry.

If you just want some wheels to move the car around I'd say they were worth a go at the current price.

Thanks for the input it is much appreciated!
The whole wheel size offset thing confuses me, thats for sure.

Will keep an eye on them.

Item 250439541036 is a possiblity as well? They are smaller 16" wheels which might help?

Having slept on it I think it makes sense to get the correct wheels for the car as I will need them anyway. But these x2 sets would be perfect if needed quickly by the sound of it. Hopefully I can find out before both these sets go through.

The most comprehensive source of info about 928 wheels is the pdf by Phil Chadwick, available from http://www.landsharkoz.com/tt/ttwheels.htm.

I can't claim to understand it all myself, but it's obvious he's put a lot of effort into researching the subject.
