 Post subject: I'm after some new black rubber/foam type mat-for the boot.

Hi, Happy new year-hope all is well with you and yours.

Boring subject...I'm after some new foam rubber in grey/black for the boot-under the carpet (right-hand side) of my 928 as its starting to disintegrate..any ideas? Thanks & Best Wishes Rob :D

Well it might be worth checking with your OPC, since I'm sure I found that all the bits have part numbers; whether they're still available and how sensible the price is I don't know.

When I had the same problem I wasn't aware that a replacement may be available from Porsche (hence why I never researched it further), so what I ended up doing was going to my local hardware store that also sold foam (mainly for upholstery) and getting a thin sheet, about 1cm thick, of closed cell neoprene(?), similar to those camping mats. I then put my old, crumbling one onto a large sheet of paper, drew round it and then cut out the shape to use as a template to cut the new one from the foam sheet.

Although it's not as soft and doesn't look the same as the original, it's under the boot carpet so nobody but me knows and I think it provides better insulation and padding than having nothing there.
