Rough 1970's 928 4.5 car.. What to do with it.

Nooo way, I was also of the opinion they were worth scrap alloy money only!

I think I have a set of early offset 928 forged trashcan wheels, as well as a set of late offset trashcans they worth anything?

Sometimes I wish I was in the states, I keep seeing on rennlist there are people with S4's and GT's who want the 993 Cup2 rear wheels that have the ET70 offset and 9J width and they pay top money for a pair of them.. I have a good set here with good tyres I could do with selling on! Aparently the Americans use them to fit the 9J's up front which work perfectly on offsets for them and they use normal 9J 968 Cup2 rears (which I also have a set of)

Seems many Porsche wheels are worth silly money.

I suppose the car as a whole would be create to restore and get back on the road. Best as a DIY project to resist prices going skyward.

Loved driving an early 928 when I had one for six months. The sound and power response were excellent. Still got lots of looks and didn't matter that my car wasn't in top condition.

Somebody should get this car back on the road although the value will always be limited

One of the visitors at Saturdays tipec openday and BBQ here has an early one that has been featured in a magazine recently. He was saying the pre-S 928's are fetching a premium at the moment, which I was really not aware of.

No closer to knowing what to do with it though, interesting none the less.

I have an allmost identical car sitting in my customers yard! A pre S 70's car if you want another :lol:

I think they should make a come back. They can't be many of these early models left now !!!

So, we have this car, it looks absolutely aweful, its been in the back compound for years, and I now at the point where I will be legally getting ownership shortly... But I really do not know what to do with it once I own it.

On the one hand, I could break it up for spares and maybe turn the back end into a trailer as a bit of fun...

On the other hand, I really do not know when I last saw a pre-S 4.5 928, which makes it a shame to kill it... However.. the bodywork needs a complete respray and possibly some work dealing with dents..

What do you guys think?

Much call for the parts? or should it get restored? and if so, is it really worth anything if I did restore it?

Why does no one ever abandon a 1973 911 RS at the workshop???
