well I had a look under the car today and all in all very pleased. issues. front air damn is held in with three bolts, its is able to flap around as a rubber spacer seems to be missing, is this the case. We noticed nearside inner driveshaft boot had split, so all four being replaced next week, and tips? braided petrol feed pipe was in place around rear axle but was attached to the solid pipe using jubilee clips, MOT fail???? both rear sills had been re welded and no big signs of rust so I was pretty happy as it looked good. Funny seeing gearbox at the rear and it looked like there is a mount for a starter still on it, VW/Audi anybody? Had car cleaned late pm today so pictures tomorrow. and a few of the jobs mentioned elsewhere will be sorted. |

The front 'batwing' (black plastic trim under bumper - is this what you mean by airdam?) should be screwed to the bumper all along the front edge. There should be 3 screws holding it to the engine undertray. Driveshaft boots are easy, just make sure you have the correct socket (most are a spline drive), clean any crud out & tap the socket in to make sure it is secure. Once all the bolts are out you can wiggle the shaft out & change the boots on the bench. The fuel pipes have been repaired, they should be a solid metal pipe from front to rear. As long as they are not leaking the repair should be ok for an mot. You found some parts from the vw parts bin, there are quite a few! |
