Hi all, my headlights on my 944 go up and work fine, but when I turn them off, they stay up and I have to retract them manually, I bought a s/h motor assembly to try and that does exactly the same.

Any ideas?

Common problem is a broken wire somewhere near where the loom is moving due to the headlight.

I've been stuck with this problem for a while and having changed the motor, the relay, the switch and checked the fuses I'm still in the same boat. So it must be a broken wire somewhere, the problem is of course finding it!

I've had a fiddle with the wiring to the motor where it joins the loom, but electrics aren't my strong point, so I'm going to leave until I can get an auto-electrician to look at it.

I can tell u were it's most likely 2 be, I found 6 split wires just behind the power steering hose 2 the right off the left head light. This is where the wires joins the main loom. I had 2 completely disconnect every electrical item that side and pull all the wiring down below the washer tank 2 repire. I removed the front bumper on mine, which helped. As the main loom runs under the badge pannel/ behind the sirrport bar. expect it 2 take most the day.

Mine did this couple years ago and it ended up after a long fault finding mission through all the connectors, wires, motors etc to be this bolt that had worked loose and fouled the headlight trying to retract back down. Worth a look :?:
