Just bought a 944S2, can anyone recommend engine or does it need to be Mobil1@? Or does it need to be Mobil1?

Low mileage I'd run a 10/40, highish mileage run 15/50. Personally either run a good mineral & change it often <6K or a semi synth but still change it frequently, especially as this is far better than very expensive oils & running extended miles.

The hydraulic lifters don't like very light oil. 10/40 as light as I would go now. My engine is still fairly fresh from full rebuild & I'm using 10/40 semi. I tried 5/40 full synthetic on advice from oil man & the lifters started rattling after 10K miles. An oil change cured them instantly.

Mine runs on Casrol 10/40 magnatec, if i started pouring thin Mobil 1 and the like it would soon start leaking, fancy dan oils were not around when these engines were designed.....decent quality with regular changes is the way forward.
