Still no spark won't start fault.

After trying with my very limited skills to eliminate this problem, ( 12 V on the terminals etc ) crank speed sensor (A big thanks to Paul for coming over from Ripley to eliminate this ) but now I think it's time to admit defeat.

I was going to scour the net and have an auto electrician come and look at the car, but the other day I was chatting to a local mechanic who said he has plug in diagnostics for the car.

So is he talking out of his **** or does the 944S2 have plug in diagnostic capability ? I'm pretty sure he mentioned the name SOLUS Diagnostics ????

Failing that can anyone recommend a good auto electrician Derbyshire / North Notts / South Yorkshire area.

Many thanks

Paul

The S2 does have a plug in diagnostic port for the Bosch Hammer device but you have to remember its late 80's technology and is very very basic. I can't remember if the S2 has it in the passenger footwell or under the bonnet near the fusebox :? It's one or the other.

hi,

I agree about the snap on solus scanner, can lead to more pain than gain ..they will not pin point the exact cause of no spark...they might ping up a dtc (diagnostic trouble code) for say the crank sensor but you need to eliminate things like high resistance in the connector at the sensor to wiring loom connector and all other basic electrical issues before you spend 70 pounds on a sensor because the scanner said so!!

If you get an auto electrician to come out, show him the correct scope traces for the crank and reference sensors on the bellhousing here :- viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4483
and make sure he has the pin outs for the ign circuit from here http://www.cannell.co.uk/Manuals.htm before he starts the investigation.

if you need any help pm me....i've been there with porsche no spark

cheers

Paul i have posted a long post on the PCGB forum in answer to your query there.
I would strongly suggest that you take your car to a garage or a Bosch qualified auto electric technician. It is pretty clear you arer not familar with fault finding fuel /ignition problems on these cars which are rather complex. You are likely to waste a lot of money buying un -necessary parts to get a 'bolt on solution' .
In the end it will be cheaper and quicker to get someone to sort it for you frankly.

Good luck
