This should open a can of worms.... sort out the men from the boys

Does anybody have any nice warm seat covers that they put on the leather seats for the winter?

Nice grey furry ones would be nice. I used to have them on my Spitfire seats when I was in the RAF in Germany (I'll wait for all the amusing comments), but for some reason I just can't find any now.

So if you've got them, where did you get them from?

I don't have seat covers, this is my first winter with leather seats in the 928, the 944 has the best interior ( Pacha ). With other cars I have just had to grin and bear it.

BTW, how old are you if you used to fly a spitfire in the RAF. Navy man myself and the pilots we had were a bit cocky!

what ya need is a nice set of tasteful leopardskin seat covers lol.

I should think sheepskin would be the warmest cover.

I think he had a Spitfire car. When Spitfires were flying we definitely didn't have any RAF bases in Germany!

You're probably going to regret posting this one.

If you're going for the warm seat covers you may also like to consider these to round off the look of the car

Sorry Jethro, I know exactly what age John is. I was waiting on John biting on that one. I just need to watch how far I go, he is much fitter than me and about 5 stone lighter, so it wouldn't be much of a fight.

Joking aside, I've never thought about a seat cover for the leather seat. If there is a good one out there, it would stop the wear on the seat too.

 I always found the leather pretty warm! Why not chop it in for a Corsa with big exhaust & sub woofer & go the whole hog.

were all sports seats heated ? never thought to look if mine were . Where is the switch situated if you have the option ?

I've never really explored my car to be honest. I couldn't find the fog light switch for the MOT inspection. it failed

Later I realised that you have to have the lights on before the fog lights will actually switch on doh!... well the MOT guy didn't know either

I was out in the 944 last night and had to get my son to show me where things were, it's been that long since I used it at night. I have a few switches on the 928 that I've not worked out what they do.

Good point Peanut, perhaps the seats are heated?

  my 928 was a 79 model and had wires and switches eveywhere that either did nothing oe went nowhere
The 928 was the first car apparently to have central locking ! it was run by vacumn from the engine and had small rubber tubes going to the doors ...... I kid you not

A Triumph Spitfire was my first ever car - still own it actually (sort of). I have seen a real Spitfire fighter plane when it landed at Laarbruch in Germany, it was about 1980. We went out to look at it, and an interesting fact is that it had to taxi in a zig-zag pattern because the nose was so high the pilot couldn't actually see where he was going - should have put that on the 'a lot of people didn't know that' thread.

Great idea Jethro - it would have been a bit of an advantage having RAF bases in Germany in WW2. We'll put you forward for a job in Whitehall

So a benefit of the post is we have discovered that some models had / have heated seats.... and that some owners may not be aware of it. My Driver's Manual, page 15, shows a seat with eight-way adjustment, lumbar adjustment, and a small switch to turn the heated seats on and off, which has a knurled knob built in it to control the temperature. So the lucky ones will have all that then!

Me? I'll have to start wearing thermal knickers if I can't find some furry seat covers :D

No not nearly, I went out of my way to get them (Perth from Swindon!) to match the rest of my linen interior.

It was an option beyond the various levels of electrical adjustment - 2, 4 or 6 way.

The switch is with the seat electrics on the sides of each seat.
A rocker with a knurled knob between. Nobbly rocker at the top is on, smooth at the bottom is off.

I imagine they will dry the seats fairly quickly so I tend to go a bit overboard on the leather feed to stop them cracking - especially the drivers side.
