Do these studs in the picture denote the correct thickness of disc ?

they are 28mm apart but this seems to be on the thin side as most porsche discs are wider.

Is that caliper from a GT3? The pins were at least 32mm apart on the ones I tried at Porshapart because they went over my disks. On 996 C2 and Boxsters calipers they are narrower for 28mm disks.

they are from a racing 996 gt2

i do not know if the 2 piece discs were thiner , i think i will have to source a none porsche disc
as i want them to be larger in diameter and they will need to fit within the 28mm gap.

could i could file the studs back to accomodate wider discs ?

Don't know if you could, but I think then you would not be able to get pads between the disc and caliper as they would be too thick.

Probably the only way to tell is to put some pads in and measure the gap. I wonder if the racing cars use thinner disks to save on unsprung weight? The bigger the diameter of the disk the more surface area so the cooling should be better but that only applies to a disk of the same thickness. I don't know how it would compare with a thicker disc. For road use I can't see 28mm disks over heating, alot of the big brake kits for Imprezas and EVO's use 28mm disks. It would probably having to buy some 3 piece disks though.
