im losing nearly a full revesvor a day with the car not in use, been hope it would hold out a bit longer so i could save up a bit longer. which is a shame as i didnt have any fluid lost untill this. or change 2 manual? how much heavyer would this be? so far i need a new rack, front roll bar mounting bracket. snaped mine! thinking the front roll bar rubber bushes are going 2 be passed there best, due 2 age and the fluid on them. so my list is needed rack, gatter boots, roll bar bushes and mounting bracket. new revesow. what im thinking off getting done while its all out is, upgrade the roll bar size/stiffness. mit as well buy new bushes 4 a larger upgrade. them stiffen brackets from ebay or maybe linseny racing? are poly bushes the way 2 go? should i change all bushes in the front wish bone may replace the rear roll bar as well theres a nice refurb one on ebay at the mo with new bushes, is this a quick job? 968 castor mounts, iv also got new front wheel bearings and front discs, ( just need pads ) are the bearings worth changing while the rack is off? along with the discs and pads? due 2 the front spiltter fitted 2 the bumper im going 2 need 2 remove the bumper |

Fit Poly bushes ! Have you checked that the PS fluid leak is not coming from the hoses that attach to the reservoir........very common. |

Yeah, I brought new clips and a 2nd system, just 2 get by, started looking at having hose made up. But turned out it's the rack. Gatter are full. The tanks have a built in filter in them, so if I'm fitting a new rack, be best 2 replace the filter. Had a new pump, so will just need new hoses and I would off replaced the whole thing. Poly bushes, all round? Or just roll bars. just ordered them triangla stiffing brackets from sar. But there's a ten day wait, need 2 find new mounting brackets 4 the roll bar, can find them anywhere. Castor blocks will I need a 4 wheel alinement after? If so think I MIT try and lower the rear, as it looks higher then the front, cars are ment 2 sit leavel ? |

there is a place in Bristol that specializes in replacement racks. You can either buy an exchange rack or drive in and have them fit a new one whilst you wait. Must be a power steering rack refurbishment company near you i should have thought. http://www.power-steering.co.uk/ |

Not really, cost 4 the seals is about half the price off a rack, plus a refurb racks are de gressed and painted so they look new. I can only work by the road side, if I had ramps and a garge I would try a lot more stuff. |

well if you don't want to do it yourself and you don't want to use a refurbished exchange rack you'll have to have a new rack fitted won't you as I don't know of any other alternatives ![]() |

I will ethier get a new rack 200 from euro car parts. -150 exchange on the return off your old one. But the rack you get is new not refurbed. Strange why they would need old racks if they don't sell refurbed ones. Or a refurb rack. My point I was making was a refurb rack is more then new seals, it's another shinny item on the car. |

Ask where the new ones are made. If it's China don't bother. Will be like the power steering pumps! No point doing the seals unless you do the rams as well as the marks on the rams will kill the seals. You have to do both. Will find out where my guy sends em'. I've rebuilt a trolley jack for £20 including chroming the ram. Seals are for nothing from HGV hydraulic specialists. You can have them made to any size. |

My point I was making was a refurb rack is more then new seals, it's another shinny item on the car. make sure that the rack advertised is actually a new rack and also a power steering rack. £150.00 for a brand new power steering rack is impossibly cheap and I would suggest that as they are asking for your old rack it must be refurbished or non power rack not new To give you an idea Bert at Berlyn services is asking for £381.00 for a LHD refurbished rack ! so how likely do you think your supplier can sell you a brand new rack for £150.00 ? http://partsforporsche.co.uk/osc/steering-c-7.html?osCsid=0cfd174eba1ee1a4ed2b8b3f59060ac7 |

I was being sarcastic about the seals JJ you're quite right . No point in just doing just the seals, the whole rack needs refurbishing which is why I suggested a fitted exchange rack specialist. He can drive in and get it fitted whilst you wait .At least you get a warrantee of sorts ![]() |

It's £350 4 a new rack, give u £150 back 4 old rack. So new rack costs £200. Yes I agree it's ethir really cheap or refurbed. Which is why asked, did you say new? Yes! Why do they want my old rack if there not selling reconditioned/re built. Here there's a difference between rebuilt and recon? Recon can be simply a washed down one from scrap yard. Will question them a bit more this weekend when I collect my airfilter. Warranty and ganurntys. Replacement of faulty part don't always cover fittment costs. |

Well iv sourced a 2nd leaky rack. It was cheap another not 2 worth mentioning. Do I try and re seal myself? Iv never rebuilt anything like this b4. With all been well I could get 2 kits and rebuild them Both, then sell one on. However that's if I can. Or send it off 2 be rebuilt profanely? |
