Post subject:  Jobs to do while changing the sump gasket

I have finally admitted to myself that I need to just get on with changing the sump gasket. So my question is....... what else to do at the same time?

I know on the turbo you also have to take the inlet manifold off to get at the bolts for the crossover pipe and while I've got the cross member off I've decided to replace all the front suspension bushes. But is there anything else? Or has anyone got any tips?

I was also told today to do the off side engine mount and remember a thread awhile ago about avoiding the cheap replacements. Does anyone have any advice on where to get decent replacements at a reasonable price.

No advice or tips?!? That's a bit unusual for you lot.

I've been advised by my local specialist to check the engine mounts and replace if necessary and consider doing the big end bearings. He said they are usually the first things to go if the car is driven.... er..... enthusiastically! The engine mounts are £40 each and the big end bearings about £85.

He also said he's replaced a few rear crank seals and main bearings but they are very big jobs and only worth doing if the engine is out, plus main bearings cost about £180.

Any thoughts?
