Hi all

Just curious to see who if anyone has made the transition from 2.5/2.7 to S2, and how they differ to drive.

Was the S2 significantly more 'sporty' in its handling? And does this make it less viable as a daily runner?

Does the S2 feel like it has more grunt lower down i.e. can you pull away quicker?

Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam, I've never owned another 944 apart from an S2, but I've driven all the other types, except for the turbo version. In my opinion, the S2 is the best driver by miles. Go test drive one and you'll see what I mean. The only contender for the S2's crown would be the turbo, I think.

Thanks

Think it would be nice to made the upgrade at some point, but am very attached to my 2.7 and it is a pretty decent one so reluctant to let it go. I'd much rather run an S2 as well as ;)

Believe me I would dearly love a 968CS. Then I'd have something that I wouldn't mind doing the odd trackday with too :bounce:

Just a shame about the price tag

I've had a 924s a 944 lux and and now I'm on an s2. I find my S2 is much more of a screamer than the 2.5s were but when it goes it really goes! I smile every time i drive it despite it being a little temperamental. I was quite disappointed with the sewing machine noise it made before i stuck a big foam Piper-X cone filter in place of the airbox. Now it sounds like it's got a pair. If you fancy you an probably pick a cab like mine for less than a 968 coupe. if you're not to far away you're welcome to take mine for a spin.

Yep I made the 944 jumps from a 2.7 to an S2 Cab & (lastly) to a Turbo
The 2.7 was my preferred 1st choice for appreciating the Front Engined Porsches & IMOH a good value model (Circa £3k)
I did rather fancy a 968 (a better name than S3!!) but coulnd't justify the £££££
As is usually the case some of us nuts get the bug & need to get on the upgrade path before the reaper comes!!
The Superb looking S2 Cab certainly had me in love !! more grunt than the 2.7 and a Beautiful looking car, if you like the wind in your hair they are superb.
However after months of thought on what next ?? 968 993 even, nope, stuck to the Beloved 944 & went Turbo - Ballistic, fantastic acceleration better roadholding & ride than the S2 Cab, docile (off boost) if you want it to be & I just love it (dont we all love em!).
If I hadn't cashed in pension money (you cant take it with you) then I would have stuck to the 2.7 & if money gets tight I woulnd't hesitiate to get another one.
