Sound deading. Anyone have Any exprence with this? I'm not overly fused but if I'm going 2 do it are do it right. Iv got a chance 2 get some similar meatrials from work, 4 free. Underlay. About 3-5 mm thick, and foil backed. Quite heavy so I'm assuming it's quite dense.  There's also some roof liner, which is water proof and breathable. And tanking sheets, which is a 2 mm thick black waterproof membrane. Rubber/ beichmen based.

I thinking I could Line the inside door panels with the tanking, use the roofing felt as the vapour barrier on the door b4 the door cards. And the under lay under the rear hacth carpet, maybe against the inside wall off the rear arches. Or I may use the tanking sheets here.

I think I'll do something like this, there's quite a lot of road noise in the 944 isn't there.

How heavy is all that stuff Terry? Might be free, but it could cost you £50 a year in petrol to carry it about everywhere.

Yeah I guess it could, but I wouldn't think it's no more then the weight off the spear wheel. I just not sure if it will do the job well, should do

t3rra,

I'd be a bit dubious about using a foil backed material. It may end up trapping moisture inside the cabin. Corrosion etc???

IMHO, I think you're wasting you're time. I always thought the 944's seem fairly quiet at speed but each to his own.

Totally agree with you Ben, the noise coming through is quite pleasant

Don't think I'd like it too quiet. Like to hear what's going on and notice any strange noises etc as soon as they appear....

Well the form backing on my rear carpet is starting 2 partways. Just a thought. I'm sure you could save weight using newer sound proofing. I don't mind the engine exshust noise, but it's not always comfortable 4 pansangers, especially ladys. It was just another weekend 2 work on the car.
