My oil pressure guage constantly shows "5" on the dial and I am told that it is likely to be the oil pressure sender unit at fault. After jacking up the car, removing a wheel and the under engine cover, I eventually found the unit, only to find I couldn't get a spanner to it. Anyone got advice on what to do next without dismantling all sorts of bits!?

Cheers, Steve

It's a real pain, on my 16v I went in from below had my arm thought the enigne guard, which is covered in oil and other shit. Had someone help guild from above. But my main problem was the size off the head ment the spanner was long and would get stuck. Could bearly turn it anoth 2 get the spanner back on again. I broke it free then used a bar between the lugs 2 unscrew.

Could remove the oil filter.

If it's raise 2 4 and stays there it's a fulaty sender, if it's at 5 without the engine turned over it's the left side connection. Do u get the warning light? As on wire is that and the other the middle

+1 on whats been said, go for an oild change at the same time it'll save you alot of time and hassle, much easire to change with the oil filter removed.

Do check thew connectionn first though ebcause it does sound like an electrical issue rather than a sender unit one.

Thanks for the advice, I will check the wires before I do anything else.

Cheers. Steve

You can also undo the bolts that hold the power steering pump, remove the belt but leave the hoses attached swing it out of the way but supported (ty wraps) and it gives you loads of room, it should be fitted with a 18 x 22mm crush washer.
