Hi new to this forum.

I have been restoring my 924 for the last year. I now want to start modifying the car
Im hoping to convert from 4 stud to 5 studs discs all round.

Id be interested to hear from anyone else who has carried out this conversion on there 924.

Basically you need 4 corners off a 924S or an early (pre 85) 944. Probably new flexis & handbrake cables.

To be honest you'll probably need new hard lines anyway as I very much doubt the flexis will unbolt. If you're local to kent I can remake them for you for beer money. Most of the lines will probably be corroded so replacement will keep the MOT man happy for many years to come :D

Thanks jim thats excellent to know. Very helpful, and i will take you up on that,

Im still getting my head around my braking system and converting it.
Im just looking at the catalogue diagrams and seeing what parts ill need to get hold off.
And whats involved.

i have no experience with Brake lines. So that prevents me taking on the swap.
Ive read on 84 924 i can use my exsisting master cylinder with early 944s so this is
encouraging.

Very nice car, I realy like 924's as my firt Porsche was a 924. Is it a Turbo? Those wheels are crackers, why would you want to get rid of them?

Hi lee thanks. I am very pleased with the wheels. There off an 1991 Audi quattro which shares the same
4 x 108 fit. However the offset is not the same. They required a 20mm spacer. Im using universal spacers -
As i can't seem to find any hubcentric ones to fit. So under certain conditions there is some light wheel
vibrations. Also annoying to remove refit road wheel. The 5 x 130 seems far better provided for in spacers
and wheel options. Whist being most of all hubcentric

The car is a n/a. Has GRP turbo style nose cone with a 944 rear hatch & spoiler adding the 924 GT features

924 front...................................................................944 front

924 rear....................................................................944 Rear

Let me know if you have any related spares

so far i have some rear calipers - Pleased to see steering knuckles are the same, but thats it.

Id be interested if anyone has these parts required from a pre 85 944

this is the master cylinder fitted to the same car the calipers came from.
a 85 - 86 944. im going to compare it to mine. Perhaps this is too late a 944 model Not being pre 85?

I understand theres a differnence between diagonal line systems

Below is my original master cylinder - Does anyone know better than me from this information
there clearly different
Id like to use my exsisting master cylinder. Im looking for the simplest swap.

Here is another master cylinder like mine from an 83 944

Ive been reading into the whole plumbing i found 4-lugs were setup with a diagonal split, whereas the 5-lug systems were setup with a front-rear split.

I read It should be a simple matter of changing the stock tee on a 4-lug system to switch over to a front-rear split.

the brake system must be converted from x-split to front/rear if using parts from a 944 or 924S. This means new hard lines must be bent, flared, and installed, and that the correct 944/924S brake master cylinder must be used. Again, the simplest conversion will be with the complete system from a single car to ensure the correct parts are used.

Still confused i have seen some photos of a 924 turbo engine showing the master cylinder.
This is obviously a 5 stud model.

Image

I looked at mine. Below (84 na 924) and it appears i have the same master cylinder as the turbo?

Wish people were talking to me, im beating my head against a wall
