The boys over on Rennlist forum have done this to death. Have a look over there. They are even selling the kits as a DIY package.

I like these more though.....

Isn't the pop up headlight one of the reasons people buy a 944? 8)

I could see the conversion as useful on a track car but I still prefer the pop up.

Weight and cost saving. And I guess when there's nothing else left 2 mod? Iv seen some buckets body colour coded. But when the lights are up when the shape shears the same lines as a 911

Cost saving??? Are you kidding! These lights are very expensive. You'd be having to go through a lot of bulbs to see any cost saving.

If u need 2 replace or repire ur oem lights the carrear gt style lights are cheaper! If done the diy way. they use truck lights or which ever are cheaper. You can make the buckets from fibre glass and the lense are made by bending plastic over the existing light lid, in an oven using sand as a weight.

Maybe jap, as I'm Nissan 300 but the 924 carear run these lights. And it was the carear the the 944 was modelled upon.

Don't forget that the originals were first used on the Le Mans cars in 1980, 81 & 82 where their highest finish was 6th overall :D

Was considering those D9 lights (Mark Shepherd is the UK supplier and very helpful he has several 944T's himself) but you would have to run around with them up all the time for people to see what you've done and then they would look like they're broken. I suppose the BMW 8 series carried the look off quite well but just too pricey for me to convert to that style.

And also don't forget that the 924 carrera style lights won't light the road as well due to being set so far back the beam gets cut off by the bodywork surrounding it.

(I read that on a forum somewhere by somebody who had tried running them anyway)

I think the first set would look good with the other mods that some do to make the car look a bit more modern. Clear indicators, repeaters, cup mirrors and door handles. Just a little extra thing you can do.

Never have been mad about the pop ups when they are up....
