OK, another newbie question I'm afraid  . Took my wheels off for the first time over the weekend to have a look at brakes and suspension. Whilst the brakes were pretty much as expected (albeit the flexi-hoses have already been replaced with braided ones 8) ), I was surprised by the coil-over style of spring fitted to the front uprights. Is this standard on the 944, or are they aftermarket?

To be honest, they look pretty tired, so I am planning on replacement (the rears also look pretty old), so any suggestions for a good fast road/occasional track day car? There seems to be a bewildering range of options, but I don't want to spend a fortune or move too far away from standard (no KW3s ;) ), so are Konis, Spax, Bilsteins or Gaz the best :? . I don't particularly want to go down the route of lowering the car and having to reindex the torsion bars...

Phil

There was a talks off club discount on the gaz. I think there believed 2 be value 4 money. What's your ride hight now? Think 30-40 mm between the tire and wheel arch is about right. 125mm off the floor, but from which part I do not no.

Promax selling Spax at a good price & thay have adjustable collers & damping. Rear will probably have lowered itself so new front spring with out adjustment might make it a bit nose high. Looking at Spax myself.

contact GAZ as they are offering 25% discount to tipec members on their suspension, making them good value.
personally i would go with kw if you can afford them.
